tokyo�s yoshinori hayashi makes his debut on lovers rock with �asylum,� an ep of deliciously bent avant-house and free jazz-esque voyages. hayashi has been making a name for himself as a formidable studio talent, and on �asylum� he offers some of his finest work to date. �agent dissolving device� welds louche narration, kaleidoscopic atmospheres and an energized girl-group hook to an earworm groove. an invaluable tool for adventurous djs, �so wrong it�s right� doesn�t begin to describe it. meanwhile, the b-side is given over to hayashi�s more sombre, quasi-chamber music leanings. �burrow� and �the old man� both use wheezing, wandering piano figures to articulate a mournful, bleary-eyed beauty that seems to flicker in the shadows of the a-side�s extroversion.

veil of light is the synth/postpunk solo project of a mystery man from zurich known to the wider world only as m. the project was born in 2012 when all the tracks for the veil of light eponymous 2013 ep released on belaten were recorded by m in a bunker near zurich. that last fact incidentally is a good way to describe the music released under this project�s name much like the mental image of a bunker it is cold dark and forces one into a contemplative resigned state. the influences that immediately come to mind listening to veil of light are 1980�s wave music post punk industrial and dark ambient all weaved together by an overarching depressive yet dreamy atmosphere. it has been called gothgaze and the description seems apt. the followup to the opener the 7� cold skin single released on edition gris and the debut lp simply titled as well as this years head/blood/chest ep continue in the same vein.

in ancient greek mythology, olympos was the living place of the twelve olympian gods and has inspired our limited series record label under the same name. olympos, will release a series of eps , with the figure of an olympian god, from various artists which will remain unannounced until the project is complete. kicking off the series is hephaestus, the god of fire and metal. dounai and lavein is an ancient greek phrase meaning give and take. a-side features lavein which is a broken beat, glitched up number, with a rather metallic timbre. resonances, filters, drums and arpeggiators arranged and programmed in style, resulting in a modern electronic piece with plenty of quirky, edgy vibes. on the flip side dounai is a melodious, esoteric and slow moving late night /after-hours affair, which expands slowly and steadily over a beautiful chord progression of lush strings and sparkling pads. a steady punctuated beat rolls smoothly throughout the track, completing this ep in a misty, hypnotizing and charming fashion. one copy per customer .

it s not often that you get to see alan oldham stepping out under his own name. the legendary detroit artist is more commonly spotted as dj t-1000 (or designing iconic artwork for techno labels) but this time around he s sharing some more house-minded delights for finale sessions. -don t take me- is a haunting, mystical slice of deep house that fits into the finale narrative perfectly, while -wild- too offers up a distinctive approach that manages to be both refined and yet imbued with that detroit roughness. -breathe- may well be the best jam on the record, dealing in subtle threads of melody that conjure up the perfect dubby 4/4 confection.

digging deep into the annals of gospel now, the name pastor tl barrett should be familiar to the eagle eyed crate diggers amongst you. an extremely colourful character from chicagos southside neighbourhood who found himself on the wrong side of the law for his involvement in some activities of a dubiously illegal nature, more importantly, besides this the pastor was widely known for his community activism and positive sermons preaching love and responsibility.

with half a century of existence, beninese band poly-rythmo can easily be considerate as legends of the african music alongside sela kuti and tinariwen. drawing their name from the extensive mix of influences that forged their sound (american soul and funk, nigerian afrobeat, french chanson, congolese rumba, etc.), they are known to be impressively productive as they released from 1969 to 1980 hundreds of eps and dozens of albums. in 2014, orchestra conductor florent mazzoleni visited the band and decided to produce this new album recorded in the legendary african studio satel. with its warm tone and mastery of rhythm variations, madjafalao will instantaneously become a classic of afrobeat and poly-rythmo will share their warm joie de vivre with thousands of people during their european tour starting in late october.

cakeman records is a new record label created and curated by dragos ilici. the first release comes from romanian producer teluric. -În p&#259,durea fermecat&#259,- means -in the magical forest- in romanian. it&#8203,s name provides the track originality, and it piques curiosity. it is a trippy yet solid techno track, rich in atmospheres and pads, warm and intense in the same time. -magnetic fields- is a stripped down dub techno track. rolling hihats, a punchy kick drum that moves your body, and a classic dub techno stab combine in a simple yet groovy and effective track.

slow futur was the name of the live soundtrack of zombie zombie for a juggling company. an add project that we decided to release some months ago, consisting in 4 tracks of 15 minutes. we were suprisingly sold out very quick. so we decided to give that record a longer life having some new mixes of one the track : hyperspace. tolouse low trax is all around the place at the moment. the amazing resident dj at salon des amareurs in dusseldorf provides a kind of sleazy remix here,that never really starts but subtlelly evolves while i:cube brings it in the dub territories, in a lush mood. enfin, gilb r provides a little reprise,putting the percussions in the front for a tropical effect.

wrltd series continue with the 12-inch by maltese producer christopher buhagiar. previously known as n.d (natch records, subself records, reaktivate), now he hides under the name of hail blk. with launching of his own self-titled label, he took a step forward in his creative evolution, producing raw analogic techno on the edge between harsh post-industrial grooves and deep hypnotic soundscapes. now we can hear this kind of magic in original tracks on the a-side of the current ep. on the b-side there are 2 amazing remixes of the title track: the apocalyptic industrial anthem by tomohiko sagae (rodz-konez, hue helix), and the multi-layered hallucinogenic excursion by datura dilema (subsist, modularz).

based out of san francisco, extra classic is a unique live band formed with a keen appreciation of vintage reggae & vintage sounds. the aesthetic, and certainly the skilled method of their production, is an ode to the art of that classic style as referenced to the term coined by the cool ruler himself. recording in their own studio, nopal recording, the band employs a taster�s choice of analog equipment and is devotedly tracked, spliced and mixed in-house direct to tape. however, as the group�s name itself implies, there is a dose of something extra and new in this swirling mixture of space echo, heavy phase, and emotive, psychedelic california-soul.
built upon the rock of an early-era dancehall swing, their first single in conjunction with brooklyn-based imprint names you can trust entitled in this life, is a perfect slice of lover�s rock gone sideways, a decidedly left-coast piece of roots and bliss driven by adrianne delanda�s lovely lead vocals and the steady, dusty echoes of the locked in players. presented in the traditional format with a version as per nyct fashion, the dub mix incorporates a soothing dose of synare beams and underwater instrumental dreams.

it all began with a licensing inquiry for a sister funk cut which we wanted to include on our deep funk comp titled �feeling nice vol. 3�. after the deal was completed producer fred forsh mentioned that the backing band of nadine brown�s masterpiece �leave me alone� had released a 45 themselves under their name teakwood. after mr. forsh played us both sides we knew that this 45 would have to be re-issued. what was about to follow nobody of us ever expected. mr. forsh told us that teakwood recorded almost a dozen of songs which were supposed to be released on a full length album. for unspecified reasons the album was never released and it remained in the can for almost 40 years. finally, we are very proud to announce the release of teakwood�s debut album �a distant star� in early 2017. until then you have to be content with this 45 rpm single re-issue.
